Unedited Images Rediscovered

27th November 2022
While browsing for some image files recently I came across a folder containing a couple of dozen picures. I was sure I'd taken more than that.

We all have our preferred workflow. On the whole I like to go through the results of a shoot fairly soon afterwards. With a huge number to go though, the process of sorting and deleting may take several days and spread into weeks.

It was extremely wet at the end of March and beginning of April 2018

Inevitably there will be a handful of images in some folders that don't get processed. Often these are the result of sorting through the results from the shoot but they are either the ones I'm ot sure about or from the tail end and where I've already processed as many images as I reasonably want. So there are no great surprises and it doesn't take long to go through them and 'put the folder to bed' as it were. I finish with a folder of RAW images, a folder of tiff images and a folder of jpg images to go on a separate hard drive.

That's not the case I'm talking about here. I came across a folder of images from four years ago that I'd only half processed. There were dozens of images at various stages of progress. Some with adjustments mad, some with captions or part captions and others not touched at all. As to why this was the case I don't know.

However, the long nights are here so I'm making an effort to work my way through them. Memories have been awakened. Some images have and will be uploaded and shared. These in particular are of historical importance and will eventually be held in the archives of the National Library of Wales so it's important I get them completed.

There's a very convivial atmosphere on a work party week

A point to note is that I come across images that, viewing after a period of time, I see alternatives, notably the potential for mono conversions.

There may be other collections that I need to finish processing so some digging is required.
