It's All At Your Coop – Now!

I remember this from television advertisements from, as far as I recall, around the end of the 1960s or very early 1970s. If anyone knows more precisely it would be good to know. I would have just been in primary school so memories are distant. Though I do remember watching the later Apollo moon missions on the large black and white school television which was mounted on a tall wheeled stand and had fold-out protective wooden doors that doubled as a shield to prevent light falling on the screen. I'm sure that brings back memories for those of a certain age.

But I digress. I've used a branch of the local Coop for the first image taken on a new camera for the past decade or so to see that the camera works and all is well. I'm not sure how it started. I guess it was something to do with looking round for a subject and on the way there decided the Coop would make do. Perhaps inspiration was lacking. Nevertheless, it's created a record of the changes over the years. Given how the High Street has changed over the last decade at least that's worth having taken those pictures. So even if I don't buy a new camera it'd be good to capture changes on a more regular basis.

A shop that used to be a Coop which closed in the early 1970s has been a branch of Motorworld for many years now. In-between times I think it was a kitchen showroom for a while. It's interesting as to how some things stick in the memory and others don't.

I could have taken more. Maybe with such rapid changes to the current shopping environment it'd be good to document those enterprises still trading before it's too late. Local means it can be done on the permitted daily exercise walk.
